Joseph N. Rossi

Joseph N. Rossi, Jr., 83, of Riverside Apartments, died Sunday, April 14, 2013 at his daughter’s house in New Castle. He was born February 2, 1930 in Brent, Pennsylvania a son of the late Giuseppe and Angeline (Bucci) Rossi. He was married to the late Phoebe L. (Sochia) Rossi who died February 10, 1997. Mr. Rossi worked in the open hearth at US Steel retiring after 25 years. He was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan. He enjoyed fixing up old cars, music and dancing, and loved to watch old John Wayne movies.
He is survived by two daughters, Vici Kendra and her husband Alan of New Castle, Laura Ostrowski and her husband Joe of New Castle, one sister, Ann DeCarlo of New Castle, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Rossi, and four sisters, Elia Morella, Lucy Calgelia, Mary Danish, and Louisa Spinelli.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 19, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vitus Church. Father Frank Almade of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in the St. Vitus Cemetery.
