Arthur R. Cresce, 92, of Shenango Presbyterian Sr. Care, formerly of Oxon Hill, MD, died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Shenango Presbyterian Sr. Care in New Wilmington. He was born November 30, 1917 in New Castle, a son of the late Lawrence and Anna (Merando) Cresce. He married Anita Mary (Audia) Cresce on August 30, 1945, she survives in New Wilmington. Mr. Cresce was a Navy veteran of World War II serving at Pearl Harbor and then in the Pacific Theater. He then was a music teacher at the US Navy School of Music, and then played the Clarinet in the US Navy Band retiring as a Chief Petty Officer after 26 years. After he retired Mr. Cresce's love for music continued, he became a very successful salesman for many years at Campbell's Music Store in Washington, DC and later at Washington Music Center in Maryland. He then ended his playing career as a member of the National Concert Band.
He is survived by three sons, Fred A. Cresce and his wife Anna-Lisa of New Castle, Arthur R. Cresce, Jr. and his wife Betsy of Davidsonville, MD, and Lawrence J. Cresce and his wife Debra Siday of Culpeper, VA, two brothers, Salvatore Cresce of Erie, PA, and Larry Cresce of Vienna, VA, and five grandchildren, Adrian, Von, Vincent, Nicole, and Lisa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 30, 2010 at 1:00 pm at St. Vitus Church. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
