Carol R. Hess, 80, of East Maitland Lane, New Castle, passed away on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025, at Jameson Hospital.

She was born on November 17, 1944, in Sharon, to Charlotte (Lang) Baer and Raymond Baer. She graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1962.

She married the late Richard P. Hess on January 21, 1965. Carol founded and was co-owner alongside Richard of Quickprint Printing / Hess Commercial Printing, Inc., for over 30 years. In recent years, Carol enjoyed the blessings of retirement, embracing her cherished roles as a devoted mother, loving grandmother—affectionately known as “Mema”—and, most recently, proud great-grandmother.

Words can hardly capture the profound joy her children and grandchildren brought into her life. She cherished every moment spent with them, and her face would light up with a radiant smile whenever she spoke of each one. Her greatest happiness was witnessing their growth, achievements, and the people they were becoming.

One of her grandsons, currently overseas, recently shared a touching message she wrote to him just days ago: “Happiness is seeing the grandson you once held in your arms grow into a kind, brilliant, strong, and amazing young man.” These heartfelt words are a lasting testament to the deep love, pride, and joy she felt for her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the center of her world. Her love for all her children and grandchildren was unwavering, and they were, without question, the heart of her world.

She loved her favorite TV shows, celebrity court trials, and binge-worthy series, which made all the weekly conversations so interesting. She also loved her books and was an avid reader. She had an appreciation for music and especially cherished the times she spent attending musicals and Broadway plays—experiences that brought her great delight and lasting memories.

Carol loved her beloved dog, Sparky, who was her constant companion and a source of joy and comfort in her daily life. Whether curled up beside her while she read or keeping her company during quiet evenings, Sparky brought warmth, loyalty, and unconditional love to her world.

She is survived by her three children: Carrie Lynn Mason and her husband, Shawn, of Grove City, PA; Cheri Jo Winck and her husband, Tracy, of Edinburg, PA; and Jason Matthew Hess and his wife, Leslie, of New Bedford, PA. Her eight grandchildren are Connor, Andrew, Ella, Estelle, Jason Jr., Angelia, Ashley, and Jordan. And her heart melted with her one and only great-grandchild, Cielo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hess; her parents; and two sisters, Beverly Fustos and her identical twin, Cheryl Fair.

A private memorial service will be held at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery in Hermitage, PA. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
