Dixie Lee Fornataro, 90, of Dewey Avenue, died Monday, June 8, 2026, at her residence in New Castle. She was born on January 13, 1936, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Leo and Ruth (Zollinger) McDonald. She was married to the late Charles Fornataro, who died February 19, 2003. Dixie worked as a nurse’s aide at Hill View Manor for 10 years, and then St. Francis Hospital, retiring after 20 years. She was a member of Holy-Spirit Parish: St. Joseph’s Church. She enjoyed shopping, and above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by three sons, Jeffrey L. Fornataro and his wife Mary, Stephen M. Fornataro and his wife Jodi, and Greg C. Fornataro and his wife Denise, all of New Castle, eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, eleven great great-grandchildren, one brother, Charles McDonald, and two sisters, Mary Lou Goebel and Helen Gierlach.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Quentin and Leo McDonald, and one sister, Marie Fornataro.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 1 PM to 4 PM, at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A Funeral Liturgy Outside of Mass will be celebrated Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 4:00 PM, following the visitation.
