Emmett R. Burns, 73, of Old Butler Road, died Monday, April 27, 2026, at UPMC Jameson Hospital, in New Castle. He was born on October 6, 1952, in Ellwood City, a son of the late Emmett L. and Dorothy P. (Richards) Burns. Emmett married Janice I. (Hughes) Burns on December 18, 1969, she survives at home. He worked as a foreman for Blair Strip Steel, retiring after 32 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and above all, loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Renee L. Rough and her husband Eric of New Castle, and Tammy E. Pitts and her husband Tom of Wampum, one granddaughter, Miranda Streckeisen, and four great-granddaughters, Addy, Everett, Everleigh, and Eloise, one brother, Robert J. Burns of New Castle, and one sister, Debra Houk of New Castle.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Jesse Pitts and Corey Pitts.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
