Obituary

James DeRosa Sr. passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose Marie DeRosa (Lupo), with whom he shared a lifetime of love and family.

James was a devoted father to his son, James DeRosa Jr., and a proud father-in-law to Maria DeRosa. He was a loving grandfather to James DeRosa III and his wife, Tina DeRosa, and to Anthony DeRosa, who preceded him in death. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Mia, Ari, and Ash, who brought him great pride and joy. He is also survived by his niece, Carol Jacobs, and her husband, David Jacobs.

James was best known throughout the community for owning and operating Capri Pizza in Boardman, Ohio. He opened Capri Pizza in 1974 in the Boardman Plaza, where it quickly became a local favorite. The business later relocated to the Southern Park Mall, continuing to serve the community until 1990. Through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to quality, he built more than a business. He built lasting relationships and memories for countless families. He was also a proud member of the Youngstown Morra League.

Above all, James will be remembered for his love of family, his strong work ethic, and the legacy he leaves behind through the generations who carry his name. His presence, guidance, and steady example will be deeply missed.

Rest in peace, “Big Jim,” also known as “Mr. Fantastic.”
