James R. Robinson, Sr., 91, of Harlansburg Road, died Monday, January 12, 2026, at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born in New Castle, on March 19, 1934, a son of the late Charles and Anna (Collingwood) Robinson. James married Margie M. (Nicholson) Robinson on July 12, 1952, she survives at home. Mr. Robinson was the owner/operator of Robinson’s Trucking for a number of years. He then owned Robinson’s Service and Equipment. He retired from McClymonds Trucking after 16 years. He was a United States Veteran of the Coast Guard Reserve. He coached softball, and enjoyed hunting, painting, and handyman work.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, James R. Robinson Jr., and his wife Gwen of LaGrange, OH, and Terri L. Riley and her husband Russell of New Castle, one son-in-law, Jeff Hammerschmidt of New Castle, eight grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah Hammerschmidt, and three brothers, William, Clair, and R. Robert Robinson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 12 PM to 1 PM, at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A funeral service will be celebrated Thursday, January 15, 1026, at 1:00 PM. Pastor Domenick Cestrone will officiate.
