Leonard L. Lastoria, 88, born on September 4, 1937, in New Castle, PA passed away on April 23, 2026, at UPMC Jameson Hospital; born to the late Arthur Lastoria and the late Genevive Rich DeCarolis. He was a very hard worker and a good provider. He worked for Castle Brand Meats as butcher and truck driver. He then started driving truck, short and long hall, for Cooper Jarrett. Halls and Yellow Trucking companies. He held a seat on the board of directors of UPS. He was a business agent with Teamsters Local 216. In the late 90’s, he became General Manager of the New Castle Transit Authority, where he worked until he retired at 80 years old. He was a member of The Holy Spirit Church, St. Vitus. He was also, a member of several social clubs: The Sons of Italy, The Eagles, and Duca Degli Abruzzi Society (The Dukes Club). He often was found doing yard work, tinkering in the garage, and watching bocce or football. Most of all, he loved spending time with the grandkids and great-grandkids, especially watching them play.
He is survived by his ex-wife and best friend Mary Ann Farrone Lastoria, two daughters, Melissa Leonard and Nicole Lastoria/Charles Hairhoger, three grandchildren, Lauren and Stefan Tonti, Arthur (AJ) and fiancé Cynera Macri-Carr, and Nicholas Tonti, three great-grandchildren, Beckett, Autumn, and Ellas. He is also survived by one sister, five brothers, along with many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 27, 2026, at 10:30 AM, at Holy Spirit Parish- St. Vitus Church. Father Aaron Kriss will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to his favorite charity, St Jude Children’s Hospital. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
