Martin H. Schlager, III, 72, of Schenley Avenue, died Monday, June 1, 2026, at his residence in New Castle. He was born on December 3, 1953, in New Castle, a son of the late Martin H. Schlager, II, and Sara (Nickum) Schlager. He was a welder working for New York Blower in New Castle, retiring after 25 years. He was a member of the Duca Degli Abruzzi Club. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, completing crossword puzzles, and classic cars. He especially loved his yearly fish fries with his family and friends. Martin will be missed by all and will be remembered as someone who has a big heart and was always willing to do anything for anybody.

He is survived by one daughter, Marnae L. Schlager, and one step-daughter, Tiffanie R. (Beckert) Covert and her husband Brian Covert all of New Castle, one brother, Gary Schlager, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Eric Schlager.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 5 PM to 7 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A funeral service will be celebrated Friday, June 5, 2026, at 7:00 PM, at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
