Mary H. Merlino, a devoted homemaker and loving mother, passed away peacefully on January 25 2026, at the age of 94.

Mary was born on February 4, 1931, in New Castle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Angelo Ferrare Sr. and Josephine (Chill) Ferrare. Mary was a proud graduate of New Castle High School class of 1949.

Throughout her life, Mary exemplified kindness and caring, traits that endeared her to many. As a member of St. Vitus Church, she embraced her faith and contributed to her community. She was an active member of the St. Vitus Ladies Guild and involved with the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, shopping, line dancing and spending time outside.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Guy A. Merlino whom she married on October 25. 1958 and who died on March 7, 1976. She was also preceded by her parents, Angelo and Josephine (Chill) Ferrare and her brothers, Benjamin, Samuel, Henry and Angelo Ferrare.

Mary’s proudest accomplishments were her beloved children and grandchildren, who brought her profound joy. After Mary’s husband Guy passed away in 1976, she raised her 2 children and encouraged them to both pursue their college education. She was very proud of both Frank and Gina’s accomplishments. She is survived by her son Frank and his wife Christine (Carlini) Merlino and Mary’s daughter, Gina and her husband Robert Severino. She was also blessed with 3 grandchildren, Bianca Severino, Anthony Merlino and Marissa (Frank) Sinito all of whom were a source of great pride and happiness in her life.

Mary’s family would like to thank all the staff at The Inn at Old Saybrook in Columbiana and Ohio Living Hospice for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 30, 2026, from 3 PM to 4 PM, at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A Funeral Liturgy Outside of Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM, at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Deacon John Carran will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
