Maurice Carter, 68, of S. Jefferson Street, died Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born in Easton, Maryland, the son of the late Richard Carter and Violice (Hines) Carter. He enjoyed watching his favorite football team, the Baltimore Ravens, grilling and playing horseshoes, and farming.
He is survived by eight children, Takia Fisher-Hughes (Larry) of Greensboro, NC, Natasha Carter of Reidsville, NC, Travis Speller of Greensboro, MD, Delanda Talley of Baltimore, MD, Travon Speller (Dakota States) of Struthers, OH, Jazzmyne Lee Fayth Eckles, Amariana V. Saul, and Nikita Johnson (Justin Eggleston) all of New Castle, PA, thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, his life-time partner, Elanie Johnson, two brothers, Wendell Carter (Trina) and James Carter (Lisa), and two sisters, Mary Carter and Helen Price, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Heisan Dawson, and two brothers, Johnny Richard Carter and Edward Lee Carter.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A memorial service will be celebrated Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 12:00 PM, at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel.
