Nellie E. ‘Betty’ Doran 1-5-1925 - 3-29-2026

Betty passed away at her residence on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026. She was born January 5, 1925, in New Castle, PA, to Joseph and Nellie (Dillow) Lalley. She married Regi Paul Doran, Sr., on September 30, 1946, and they were married till his passing in 2001. Betty worked at various jobs her entire life. She enjoyed her last job as secretary/receptionist for Dr. James P. Sommerfield for 36 years. She also enjoyed dancing, cooking (especially her pies), and all activities at Challenges in New Castle.

She is survived and deeply missed by her three sons: Regis ‘Butch’ Doran, David Doran, and Jeffrey Doran. She also stated, many times, that she was blessed with the best three daughters-in-law you could ever have, Carmen, Ann and Lori. Betty is also survived by her two grandchildren, Shaun and Caitlyn Doran and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Regis Doran, Sr., who adored her, and her parents, and two brothers, Joe and John Lalley, and two sisters, Mary Ellen Jessel and Ethel Mae Lalley.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 1 PM to 2 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A Funeral Liturgy Outside of Mass will be celebrated Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father Joseph McCaffrey will officiate. Burial will be in Clinton Cemetery.
