Russell E.R. DePietro, Sr.

Russell E.R. DePietro, Sr., 94, of Bleakley Avenue, died Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle. He was born on November 20, 1931, in New Castle, the son of the late Francisco D. and Georgia L. (Swogger) DePietro. He was married to the late Delores J. (Kreitzer) DePietro, who died on November 19, 2011. Russell was a United States Army Veteran, serving in Paris during the Korea Conflict. He retired from Johnson Bronze as a machinist, and then was the deck hockey operator at the YMCA in Neshannock Township for 5 years. He was a baseball player for the Army while he served. He was a former member of the Columbus Club and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by three children, Russell E.R. DePietro, Jr., and his wife Kimberly, formerly of New Castle, Valerie R. Travis of New Castle, and Marcia L. Black and her husband Chris of New Castle, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Georgia L. Grieve, one granddaughter, Amanda E. Griffin, three brothers, Frank ‘Bud’ DePietro, George Peters, and Duane DePietro, and two sisters, Audrey Costa, and Vivian Lamorella.

Visitation will be held at Riverside Outreach Ministries, 1228 Rebecca Street, New Castle, PA, 16101, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 1 PM to 2 PM, with a service to follow at 2 PM. Pastor Joseph Zingaro will be officiating. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
