William K. Ickes, 79, of New Castle, died Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on May 1, 1947, in New Castle, a son of the late William and Nellie (Synder) Ickes. He was married to the late Madeline K. (Cubbal) Ickes, who died October 22, 2025. He worked at YDC as a house parent and then worked as Kasgro Railcar as a machine operator for 40 years. He loved spending time with his wife Madeline and his dogs, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping.

He is survived by one son, Sam Saado and his fiancé, Danielle Byers of Hermitage, PA, and two grandchildren, Devin Byers and Tiara Saado.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
